My current daily driver is Fedora Silverblue combined with Firefox. It’s a fantastic setup, but there’s a catch: Fedora websites kept showing up in my address bar suggestions. For example, if I typed “get”, Firefox would immediately suggest “getfedora.com.” It was quite annoying and surprisingly difficult to remove. Today, I finally decided to fix it once and for all. My first thought was to simply remove the fedora-bookmarks package, which introduces these bookmarks in the first place. However, the suggestions were still there! After exploring the Firefox settings, I realized these autocomplete suggestions were coming from saved bookmarks. But I don’t have those bookmarks! By checking the Firefox Browser Console (not the web developer console) and using PlacesUtils , I verified that there were still many hidden bookmarks pointing to Fedora websites. 最近想订阅一个RSS feed，然而由于权限设置，需要登录才能拿到内容，未登录的情况下feed url会报错。 这种情况下Google Reader就不好使了，即便可以，总不能把我的用户名密码给它吧。 Google许久无果，最后想到了用Firefox自己订这个feed，因为Firefox里有我的Coookie。 于是成功了。 Now I'd like to subscribe a private RSS feed, where login is necessary, you won't see anything from the feed url without login. In such a situation Google Reader won't work, even if possible, I don't want to reveal my username/password to it. After wasting several minutes in Googling, I came up with an idea, that to subscribe the feed using Firefox, as it's holding my Cookies. Then of course I succeeded.

最近用Firefox订了一个feed，想把它显示出来，然而又不想为此浪费一行显示书签工具栏，于是把bookmark toolbar item拖到了地址栏尾部。 然而这个item是会自动收缩的，于是浪费了一段空白，而且我的feed需要展开才能看。 解决方法，利用stylish #bookmarksBarContent .bookmark-item { visibility: visible !important; } 即可。 Recently I've subscribed a live feed using Firefox, I want it being displayed in my browser all the time, but I don't like the bookmark toolbar which wastes the entire line space. Therefore I drag the bookmark toolbar item to the end of the location bar. However, that item will automatically collapse, resulting in that there's just a blank area, with an expand button, I have to view the item after expand the item, so stupid. The solution is, by stylish: #bookmarksBarContent .bookmark-item { visibility: visible !important; } works like a charm.

被同学怂恿了半天，禁不住诱惑，改了一下，确实变快了 方法是 about:config 修改 browser.cache.disk.parent_directory 为 /dev/shm/firefox 然后重启firefox

浏览Definr时发现的一个Firefox的实用功能，在很多搜索页面中，在搜索框点右键，有个Add a keyword for this search. 例如google.com，点这个选项然后设置keyword为g，以后在地址栏里打g xxx就直接去google搜索xxx了。 还真是方便！

由于我一直用Firefox 3.7 nightly，很多插件都不支持了 另外我的笔记本是宽屏，Menu Bar占一行还是蛮浪费的，于是决定干掉它 多方google后，得到解法 修改userChrome.js或者利用stylish创建脚本 #toolbar-menubar{ margin-top: -25px !important; opacity: 0 !important; } 当然也可以用display:none，但是那样的话菜单是真正消失了，现在的方法按快捷键还是能用的。

Ubuntu 9.10 前一阵子突然发现firefox-3.5不能下载了，浏览器，downthemall都不行。并且似乎不是下载目录权限问题。 不知google知：https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/433362/+index#true 原因是firefox-3.5这个包带了一个apparmor的规则，阻止了firefox对一般目录的访问。 临时解决办法是 sudo ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox-3.5 /etc/apparmor.d/disable/usr.bin.firefox-3.5 禁掉这个规则

文档中有如下提示 This interface is the type of the following properties: This interface is passed as an argument to the following methods: This interface is returned from the following methods: 比如我想看nsIDOMDocument怎么创建，但是它没有构造函数 在 http://www.xulplanet.com/references/xpcomref/ifaces/nsIDOMDocument.html 中可以发现它是一些函数的返回类型。于是轻松找到nsIDOMParser.parseFromString等函数。 不想Javadoc，有时一见接口和抽象类就傻了眼。 当然了这涉及到语言的架构，二者还是不能这么比的。 但是还是要称赞这个文档： 这才是给人看的文档！

最近想在英文Windows下使用日文Firefox，下了语言包后还是英文的。Windows下似乎不能像Linux那样先设个LC_ALL再启动。 于是想到了about:config, 搜索 locale, 最后发现修改general.useragent.locale即可

其实以前就知道这个，只是那时blogspot没有解封，似乎这个插件不工作。 现在工作正常了，这一篇和上一篇都是用它发布的，还不错。美中不足是tag要自己指定，不能选。 这个其实也不怪它。我查了查Google的Blogger data API，似乎没有查询所有category的接口。 用这个的确方便了不少。

最近更新了一下，然后firefox就不正常了，gmail里写不了邮件。 看控制台消息，报 /usr/lib/firefox/firefox-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/firefox/components/libmyspell.so: undefined symbol: _ZN8Hunspell5spellEPKc 之后在 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/107340 找到了问题原因，是拼写检查模块libhunspell的问题，解决办法为禁掉firefox的拼写检查（about:config然后设置layout.spellcheckDefault=0)，或者把libhunspell降级(我这是1.1.5,据说1.1.4就没问题)

转载请注明出处： www.NiDaYe.orG ，谢谢 作者：Roby Liang 很早很早以前曾经写过一篇“ Firefox 终极加速 ”的文章，可以通过手动修改 user.js 文件来获取理论上的最佳浏览速度，后来发现这种修改方式对于普通用户来说真的有点勉为其难，而且国内的网络环境并不尽如人意，我们所做的 js 优化修改在臃堵的网路上显得那么渺小与无助。 不过聊胜于无，让我们暂且先把这些复杂的优化操作变的简单一点，然后再来亲自感觉一下这些已经在网络上流传了很久的提速技巧吧。下面的操作我们都在 about:config 里进行。在 Firefox 的地址栏中输入 about:config，让我们开始提速吧。 network.http.pipelining 在 Filter 中输入 network.http.pipelining，双击赋值为 true，默认为 false。如果没有找到这个键值，可以右键新建一个 Boolean，把她赋值为 true 就 OK 了。 还 是像我在从前解释过的那样，激活这个键值之后，Pipelining 同时发出成倍数的连接请求，从而达到提升连接速度的效果。网络上的大多数网站都是基于 HTTP 协议，而 HTTP 1.1 可以支持多线程的连接请求，通过这个操作可以减少 Firefox 载入网页的时间。不过并不是所有网页所在的服务器都支持这种操作，所以当你修改键值之后却看不到一点实际效果的时候，请不要对我破口大骂。 network.http.pipelining.maxrequests 在 Filter 中输入 network.http.pipelining.maxrequests，双击并赋值为 8，默认键值为 4。 network.http.proxy.pipelining 在 Filter 中输入 network.http.proxy.pipelining，双击并赋值为 true。 这两条优化的道理同上，这里就不再多解释了。 network.dns.disableIPv6 在 Filter 中输入 network.dns.disableIPv6，双击并赋值为 true。 IPv6 把 IP 地址由 32 位增加到 128 位，从而能够支持更大的地址空间，当用户在终端向一个 IPv6-capable DNS 服务器发送连接请求时...

windows xp平台 firefox 2.0.0.2 添加pac代理时,制定pac文件的地方直接输入路径总报错，必须加上file://才行，linux下就没事 等我跟开发者反映一下

给家里电脑装了个Firefox，但是是英文版的，老妈说如果不是中文就不用。于是我去找中文包 官方页面上竟然找不到，google下发现了个ftp ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ / /xpi/zh-CN.xpi 如： ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.1/win32/xpi/zh-CN.xpi 顺便说一下，在这个ftp上转了转，还挺不错，mozilla的软件和插件应有尽有，相见恨晚啊。
